St. Clair County Community College 2004-2005 Catalog PROGRAMS OF STUDY OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAMS The occupational curricula is designed to meet the needs of those who plan to complete their formal education within one or more years at the college. The occupational program prepares the student for direct entrance into business or industry without having to continue on to other institutions of higher education. However, credits for some classes in occupational curricula that are designed to fulfill requirements for the Associate in Applied Arts and Science degree may be transferred depending upon the major area of study and the senior college of choice. The community college has a number of articulation and transfer agreements with colleges and universities leading to a bachelor's degree. Students planning to transfer occupational curricula should meet with an academic advisor before selecting classes. The sequence of classes listed under each program, beginning on page 94, is a suggested sequence only and is subject to change without prior written notice. There may be various sequences available to students within an individual program, depending on the student's area of interest. If the student wishes to select classes for a chosen program in a sequence different from the one suggested, and/or it is the student's intent to transfer credits to a college or a university, the student should see a counselor or an advisor before selecting classes. Course of study equivalency sheets are available in the Career and Counseling Services Office. All students must apply in the Enrollment Services Office for graduation in any degree program.
