AD 150 Civil Architectural Technology. Six weeks or more work experience in industry is an integral part of this intensive but varied experience in the student's program of study. This on-the-job experience will be developed by the employer in conjunction with a coordinator designated by the college. A written training program which is agreed upon by the student, employer and the college will be developed.

1 to 6 credits = 1 to 6 lecture
AD 170 Basic Architectural Layout I. Fundamentals of linework, lettering, orthographic/pictorial projection, and basic descriptive geometry, along with freehand sketching, highlight this course. Typical sections and elevations from building will be used as laboratory problems. Fall semester only.
Prerequisite: None
5 credits, plus 2 contact hours* = (3 lecture, 4 laboratory)
Note: All drafting courses require some out of class work.
AD 171 Basic Architectural Layout II. This course features advanced descriptive geometry problems, including work with cuts and fills, grade line layout, and work with warped surfaces. Foundation and stair design, one and two point perspective, and pert organization are also integral parts of this course. Winter semester only.
Prerequisite: AD 170

AD 270 Architectural Design. A complete set of prints are to be made of each student's assigned building. This will include property, type of structure, community (residential or commercial), and geographic areas. Topography will be introduced as to excavations and building lines. Soil mechanics, weather, and foundations design will be discussed. Fall semester only.
Prerequisite: AD 170 and 171 or equivalent

AD 271 Models/Topography. Students will be assigned either a residential or commercial building. Students will furnish a scaled down model of the building along with free hand rendered sketches. Winter Semester only.
Prerequisite: AD 270, SUR 178
4 credits, plus 1 contact hour* = (1 lecture, 4 laboratory)
AD 272 Cost Estimating. This course emphasizes the organization and preparation of legal reports in addition to the specifications requested in the building construction. During the course, guest contractors will lecture, and students will be required to visit local mills and lumber supply offices. Standard FHA housing codes and their variation will be discussed. Winter semester only.
