SUR 178 Land Surveying.
This course presents a study of the theory and use of the theodolite, level and electronic distance measuring equipment. Differential and profile leveling, grade staking and construction layout are also covered, as are procedures to survey property, to find lost corners, and to establish property lines. Students will also write legal descriptions while analyzing original U.S. Land Surveys and current subdivision requirements. Proper computation of land areas, topography, and earthwork is also an integral part of this course. Offered every other year.
Prerequisite: MTH 112 or appropriate placement by our college assessment or ACT score
