    • Skippers struggle in Eastern Conference opener with sixth-place finish

      It was a rough season opener for the St. Clair County Community College golf team.

      The Skippers shot a round of 345 and finished sixth out of eight teams Monday at the Dearborn Country Club. Henry Ford CC was the host for the 18-hole Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference event.

      Oakland won the tournament with a score of 302. The Raiders also featured the medalist in Mike Gaulin with a 72.

      Leading the Skippers' scoring was sophomore Joey Falk of Yale with an 81. Rounding out for SC4 scoring was Jordan Harms (Yale) and Grant Moore (Port Huron Northern) each with an 86 followed by Matt Fernandez (Port Huron Northern) 92 and Jimmy Fournier (Port Huron) 96.

      The Skippers are off until Friday, Sept. 26 when they host their own invitational at the Port Huron Elks Golf Club.
