    • Chris Huss returns as SC4 women's basketball coach

The man who took the St. Clair County Community College women's basketball team to its highest heights is back leading the program.

Chris Huss has been named head coach of the SC4 women's basketball team, returning after more than a decade away. He takes over for Akilah Edmondson, who resigned in the spring.  Chris Huss

Huss coached the Skippers from 1994 through 2002, leading the team to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II title game in 1995, where it lost 94-89 in triple overtime against Kankakee Community College (Illinois).

He takes over a program that has advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament in four of the past five seasons.

"I'm excited to be back," Huss said. "The timing couldn't have worked out better. It's always been a goal of mine to coach in college, so I'm excited to be back. At this level, it's important to get talent, and I will work to do that. I'm confident in my coaching ability, and I think the recent success of the program will only help. The fact that we're moving into the SC4 Fieldhouse is exciting, too."

In Huss' eight seasons with the Skippers, the team won four Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference championships and one state championship.

Huss also has experience coaching at the high school level, as he was the Capac girls varsity coach from 1987 to 1993 and again from 2010 through this past season.

"Chris' experience, success and familiarity with our program make him a great fit," SC4 Athletic Director Dale Vos said. "He knows how to win and recruit at this level, and he knows a lot about high school basketball in this area."
