Community college leaders from China visited St. Clair County Community College on Monday, May 5, 2008.

Representing the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange were Mr. Jun He, vice president of Chongqing Technology and Business University in Chongqing; Mr. Bin Huang, vice president of Nanjing University of Technology in Nanjing; and Ms. Teng Xiangdong, director of personnel at Beijing Union University in Shanghai. Joining them was Ms. Sufei Li, U.S. program coordinator for the China Center for International Educational Exchange and liaison officer for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

SC4 hopes to establish partnerships with community colleges in China to provide SC4 students with experience, knowledge and training they need to stay competitive in today’s global economy. The partnerships could include student, faculty and staff exchanges.

The visit to the United States followed a visit by leaders from U.S. community colleges to China in October 2007. Dr. Rose B. Bellanca, SC4 president, and Denise McNeil, SC4 dean of instruction, were among leaders invited by the American Association of Community Colleges and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities to join the delegation of educators visiting educational institutions in China.
