| St. Clair County Community College’s 84th annual Commencement ceremony Friday, May 9, 2008, honored graduating students in six associate degree programs and numerous certificate programs. The event at McMorran Arena in Port Huron featured Michigan Board of Education member Casandra Ulbrich as its keynote speaker. Ulbrich is director of corporate and foundation relations at Wayne State University in Detroit. Ulbrich also has been picked to serve on the National Association of State Boards of Education governmental affairs committee, which makes recommendations on federal policy such as the No Child Left Behind Act. SC4 students earned associate degrees in arts, science, engineering, general education, business, and applied arts and science. The college had 658 students eligible to graduate. Also participating in the ceremony was SC4 University Center partner Saginaw Valley State University, whose students earned bachelor of arts in elementary education degrees and elementary teacher certifications.
