Some scholarships still available for 2008-09

Following is a list of some scholarships still available for the 2008-09 academic year through SC4.

Vera Andrus Memorial
Awarded to a second-year, pre-law student who will be transferring to the University of Michigan or Wayne State University Law School. Must be full time and have a 3.0 G.P.A. Award: $1,000 per year.

Robert L. Ange Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time sophomore who lives in-district and is majoring in either business administration or the medical office assistant program. Award: $400 per year.

Bezenah Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore majoring in criminal justice with a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. Recipient must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and show financial need. Must provide a letter of recommendation from a criminal justice instructor. Award: $200 for fall semester.

Blue Water Garden Club
Awarded to a full-time student majoring in horticulture or a related field. Award: $500

Disabled American Veterans - Chapter 12 of St. Clair County
An award is available to a disabled veteran who is honorably discharged and has a claim card. Applicant must submit a copy of their DD214 number 4 and a copy of ther claim card along with their application. Student must be a sophomore with a minimum 2.5 GPA. You will be required to attend a meeting at the DAV office to be presented with an award. Award: $500 and one-year membership to the DAV Chapter 12 of St. Clair County.

Jerry Ebner Memorial
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a freshman who is a Croswell-Lexington High School Graduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award: Varies.

Gender Equity Project
Awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to students who are first-time or transfer students from existing gender traditional occupational programs into nontraditional programs for their gender. For women, these fields generally include computer science, corrections and criminal justice, international business, technology and welding. For men, these fields generally include early childhood education, nursing and secretarial science, including legal and medical. Award: Up to $564. Special application required. Charles Myron Gossman Scholarship Fund
Full two-year scholarship for honorably discharged military veterans. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student. Contact the Financial Aid Office for an additional application.

Hon. Edward T. Kane Memorial Scholarship
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation with preference to students living in Algonac or Clay Township. Must major in pre-law, attend a minimum of 6 credit hours and have a 3.25 GPA. Must submit an essay including plans on how and why student wants to become an attorney. Award: $500 ($250/fall, $250/winter).

Ellen Kean Scholarship
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation for tuition to a sophomore who earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average during freshman year. Award: Varies, but may include full tuition.

Mari-Lu Rea McDannel Scholarship Fund
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a female nursing program student who is enrolled in at least 6 credit hours with a minimum 3.25 grade point average. Award: $500 ($250/fall, $250/winter).

Bessie I. Mueller Endowment
Awarded to a sophomore majoring in home economics, horticulture, agriculture, English or a related field. The scholarship will continue for scholarship recipients transferring to Michigan State University who maintain full-time status with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award: $1,000.

E.B. Mueller Endowment
Awarded to a sophomore majoring in business or engineering. The scholarship will continue for recipients transferring to the University of Michigan who maintain full-time status with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Eligible students must be a full-time resident in the SC4 district or Lambton County and demonstrate financial need. Award: $1,000 per year.

Dr. Carol Nowakowski Scholarship Fund
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a freshman, based on need, with preference to New Life Christian Academy students. Award: Varies.

Port Huron Garden Club
Awarded to a sophomore with a minimum 2.0 GPA majoring in horticulture or a related field. Award: Varies.

Port Huron Lions Club
A tuition award will be given to a student who is visually impaired or hearing impaired. Contact the Financial Aid Office for a special application. Award: Varies.

Port Huron Police Association Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time sophomore in the criminal justice program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Eligible students also must demonstrate financial need and complete a “Request for Criminal Record Check” sheet to turn in with the application. Award: $1,000 per year.

Port Huron VFW 796 Scholarship
This scholarship is for Afghanistan or Iraq veterans who are either VFW members or meet their eligibility. Applicant must submit a copy of their DD214 number 4 and a copy of ther claim card along with their application. Minimum 2.0 GPA. You will be required to attend a meeting of the VFW 796 post to be presented the award. Award: $500 and one-year membership.

Prestolite Endowment
Awarded to a student majoring in business. Priority will be given to a son or daughter of a Prestolite employee or past employee (must provide documentation). Student must be an incoming freshman with a 3.0 GPA. Award: Varies.

Prichard Nursing
Awarded to a graduate of Port Huron High School or Port Huron Northern High School entering last year of the associate degree nursing program. Award: $1,000 per year.

Evelyn Sharrow Scholarship Fund
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a freshman with a minimum 3.0 high school GPA, with preference to Port Huron High School students. If no applications are received from Port Huron High, students from Port Huron Northern High School will be considered. Award: $1,000.

Thomas A. Treleaven Communication Scholarship
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a freshman student, based on need, enrolled full time in a communications program. Communications is defined as advertising, broadcasting, communication design, foreign languages, journalism, reading and other areas related to communication not named above. Recipient must have a 3.0 high school GPA. Award: Varies, but may include full tuition, fees and books.

Students applying for financial aid for semesters

should submit the 2008-2009 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) using our school code, 002310.

Students should use their Department of Education PIN number to complete a Renewal FAFSA and to provide an Electronic Signature. If you have misplaced or forgotten your PIN number for the FAFSA application, visit the Department of Education's PIN Web Site and click "Request a Duplicate PIN".
