New scholarship for 2008-09 academic year, special application due Dec. 15, 2008:

Pine Grove Masonic Lodge
The Pine Grove Masonic Lodge is offering a scholarship based on need for a full-time student with a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. Pick up a special scholarship application in the SC4 Financial Aid Office, ATC 123. Deadline is December 15, 2008. Award: $1,000 a year.

New scholarship for winter 2009, special application due Dec. 15, 2008:

Rotary Club of Fort Gratiot Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in a business course with preference given to an adult student who is returning to higher education after being out of high school for at least two years. Recipient must maintain a 2.5 grade point average. Recipient must attend SC4 for a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester while working part time (15 hours) or attend SC4 for a minimum of six credits while working full time (32 or more hours). Applicants should not be part of any rotary member’s immediate family. Qualified applicants may be interviewed by the club’s Education Committee. Submit special application to SC4 Financial Aid Office by Dec. 15, 2008. Award: $500.

New scholarship for fall 2009, special application due Jan. 15, 2009:

The National Association of Legal Secretaries of Michigan
Awarded to students enrolled or planning to enroll in a school of advanced education pursuing a degree in the legal field. High school seniors as well as college students are eligible. Student must have at least a 3.0 average, demonstrate financial need and be able to enroll in the fall 2009 semester. Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office, Room 123 of the Acheson Technology Center, and must be postmarked no later than Jan. 15, 2009. Award: $1,000.

Following is a list of some scholarships still available for the 2008-09 academic year through SC4.

Disabled American Veterans - Chapter 12 of St. Clair County
An award is available to a disabled veteran who is honorably discharged and has a claim card. Applicant must submit a copy of their DD214 number 4 and a copy of ther claim card along with their application. Student must be a sophomore with a minimum 2.5 GPA. You will be required to attend a meeting at the DAV office to be presented with an award. Award: $500 and one-year membership to the DAV Chapter 12 of St. Clair County.

Charles Myron Gossman Scholarship Fund
Full two-year scholarship for honorably discharged military veterans. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student. Contact the Financial Aid Office for an additional application.

Hon. Edward T. Kane Memorial Scholarship
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation with preference to students living in Algonac or Clay Township. Must major in pre-law, attend a minimum of 6 credit hours and have a 3.25 GPA. Must submit an essay including plans on how and why student wants to become an attorney. Award: $500 ($250/fall, $250/winter).

Bessie I. Mueller Endowment
Awarded to a sophomore majoring in home economics, horticulture, agriculture, English or a related field. The scholarship will continue for scholarship recipients transferring to Michigan State University who maintain full-time status with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Award: $1,000.

E.B. Mueller Endowment
Awarded to a sophomore majoring in business or engineering. The scholarship will continue for recipients transferring to the University of Michigan who maintain full-time status with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Eligible students must be a full-time resident in the SC4 district or Lambton County and demonstrate financial need. Award: $1,000 per year.

Port Huron Lions Club
A tuition award will be given to a student who is visually impaired or hearing impaired. Contact the Financial Aid Office for a special application. Award: Varies.

Port Huron Police Association Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time sophomore in the criminal justice program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Eligible students also must demonstrate financial need and complete a “Request for Criminal Record Check” sheet to turn in with the application. Award: $1,000 per year.

Port Huron VFW 796 Scholarship
This scholarship is for Afghanistan or Iraq veterans who are either VFW members or meet their eligibility. Applicant must submit a copy of their DD214 number 4 and a copy of ther claim card along with their application. Minimum 2.0 GPA. You will be required to attend a meeting of the VFW 796 post to be presented the award. Award: $500 and one-year membership.

Evelyn Sharrow Scholarship Fund
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a freshman with a minimum 3.0 high school GPA, with preference to Port Huron High School students. If no applications are received from Port Huron High, students from Port Huron Northern High School will be considered. Award: $500 for winter semester.

Thomas A. Treleaven Communication Scholarship
Awarded by the SC4 Foundation to a freshman student, based on need, enrolled full time in a communications program. Communications is defined as advertising, broadcasting, communication design, foreign languages, journalism, reading and other areas related to communication not named above. Recipient must have a 3.0 high school GPA. Award: Varies, but may include full tuition, fees and books.

Students applying for financial aid for semesters

should submit the 2008-2009 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) using our school code, 002310.

Students should use their Department of Education PIN number to complete a Renewal FAFSA and to provide an Electronic Signature. If you have misplaced or forgotten your PIN number for the FAFSA application, visit the Department of Education's PIN Web Site and click "Request a Duplicate PIN".
