Geography

Geography is not just maps and capitols. Geography attempts to answer three questions about a topic.

  • What is it?
  • Where is it?
  • Why is it there?

Courses

From volcanoes to rivers to religions to languages, Geography can help make sense out of clutter and confusion.

Yes, Geography deals with political boundaries, capitols and natural resources, but that is just a small part of the discipline. Geography extends far beyond what you learned in junior high school and touches upon just about any topic.

Where are the tropical rainforests? What is global warming? Why do tornadoes form mainly in the U.S.? What is going on in Israel? Why does civil war plague certain countries? What is the role of the U.N. in today's world? How do we deal with 9/11?

No matter what your major, it is good to know this stuff. Your boss will be impressed.

If you want to know the world, then take a Geography course.
