  • SC4 women’s basketball team to play starting Tuesday in national tournament

    The St. Clair County Community College Skippers women’s basketball team will play its first game in the 2014 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Tournament at 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday, March 18.

    The Skippers are appearing in the tournament for the third consecutive year.

    The tournament runs March 18 to 22 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan.

    SC4 will take on North Central Missouri College in Tuesday’s game. SC4 is the No. 3 seed out of 16 for the tournament. North Central is the No. 14 seed. Heading into the tournament, SC4’s record is 28-2 and North Central’s is 17-12.

    The winner of Tuesday’s game will play at 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday, March 19. The loser will play at 4 p.m. EDT Wednesday, March 19.

    The SC4 women’s basketball team qualified for the national tournament Saturday, March 8, by beating Delta College, 84-67, in the NJCAA District H Championship at Delta. The Skippers were ranked sixth in the nation, according to the latest NJCAA Division II poll.

    Important note about time zones: The tournament games are being played in Overland Park, Kansas, which is in the Central time zone. Michigan is in the Eastern time zone. Kansas time is one hour earlier than Michigan time. All times listed in this news release and on the SC4 web page have been converted to Michigan time (Eastern Daylight Time). Times listed on the tournament web pages and the National Junior College Athletic Association web pages will be listed in Kansas time (Central Daylight Time).
