  • SC4 plans three-day Homecoming event during Blue Water Fest; highlights include Bluegrass Festival, Jazz on the River

    St. Clair County Community College is inviting the community to a three-day Homecoming Arts Explosion in conjunction with Blue Water Fest during Boat Week.

    The event will feature art, entertainment and food on SC4's campus in downtown Port Huron on July 10, 11 and 12.

    Events will be behind SC4's Main Building, near the Black River. 

    Artists will display and sell work at a fine arts fair from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There also will be food vendors and a beer/wine tent throughout the event.

    The celebration is sponsored by SC4, the SC4 Alumni Association and the SC4 Foundation. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.sc4.edu/arts.

    Event schedule:

    Thursday, July 10

    • 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. - Meet SC4 mascot Skip and other university mascots, including Michigan State University mascot Sparty.

    Friday, July 11

    • 2 to 5:30 p.m. - Professional skateboarder "G" Vallie.
    • 2 to 9 p.m. - Artist tents; beer/wine tent sponsored by SC4 Foundation.
    • 2 to 9 p.m. - SC4 Bluegrass Festival, featuring multiple bands and dinner. Tickets are $25 and are available at the door or by calling (810) 989-5513. 
      • 2 to 3 p.m. - Open jam with area youth and Jimmy Deheno
      • 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. - Raisin Pickers
      • 5 to 6 p.m. - Allen Shadd
      • 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. - The Dead Monroes
      • 7:30 to 9 p.m. - Detour 

    Saturday, July 12

    • Noon to 8 p.m. - Jazz on the River in cooperation with Blue Water Jazz Society and the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. For artist biographies, visit www.bluewaterjazz.com.
    • Noon to 1:30 p.m. - Open jam with Fifth Avenue (Jazz)
    • 2 to 2:45 p.m. - The Thomason Family Band (Gospel)
    • 3:15 to 4 p.m. - Nuevo Jazz Detroit (Latin Jazz)
    • 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. - Blue Water Jazz Quintet (Great American Songbook)
    • 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. - Gary Sacco (Sinatra)
    • 7 to 8 p.m. - Gary Greenfielder (Big Band) 
    • 2 to 9 p.m. - Artist tents; beer/wine tent sponsored by SC4 Foundation; BBQ ribs and chicken served by SONS Outreach
