The introduction to this Web site is a combination of video and Flash created by Erik Woods; an SC4 alumnus and Matt Makowski; a current student, under the direction of Ann Carrier, the College's Web developer. The College is extremely proud of both Matt and Erik and counts itself as fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with them.

Erik Woods

Erik Woods - SC4 alumnus

Erik Woods knew he wanted to design Web pages. He was just surprised to find a job he enjoyed as quickly as he did. Woods, 21, of Kimball Township graduated from SC4 as one of the college’s first students to complete the new Web development program. He earned his associate of applied arts in Web development and associate of applied arts in computer programming in May 2006.

The Web development program was introduced halfway through his second year at SC4, and he jumped at the chance.

Within weeks of graduation, he landed a job as an interface developer for ePrize LLC in Royal Oak. The company operates eprize.com, an online, data-driven promotions company. As an interface developer, Woods acts as the link between graphic artists and business professionals at ePrize LLC. He blends their concepts into an easy-to-use and attractive Web site.

When approached about developing and designing the Flash programming for this site, Erik was both confident he could do a good job and eager to get started. Because he works full time, face-to-face meetings to go over designs were not possible. Using telephone and e-mail as the only forms of communication, Erik was able to independently design, build and program the Flash introduction, meeting all of the project requirements, on his first attempt.                                                                            Top

Matt Makowski

Matt Makowski - SC4 current student

Matt Makowski is a current student at SC4 studying broadcasting. He will graduate in June 2007 with an associate's degree in applied arts with an emphasis on broadcasting. He will transfer to Grand Valley State University in the Fall of 2007 to work on a bachelor's degree in broadcasting.

He has known for quite sometime that broadcasting would be his career niche. Upon completing high school, Matt started a video production business and named it MSM Video Productions, L.L.C. It was difficult at first for him to juggle both his studies and all the tasks associated with running a business, but by October 2005, he had a handle on things and MSM Video Productions, L.L.C. began to grow.

Today, when not in class or studying, he is filming weddings, graduation picture montages, anniversary videos, event filmings, high school sports videos, and many other things.

His plan is to continue running his business locally during the summer months when he's home from Grand Valley State University.

When asked to film the video for this project, Matt jumped at the opportunity. He was able to manage all the filming and production tasks with ease. The end result is a glimpse of SC4 through a student's eyes that is both cool and professional.

Ann Carrier

Ann Carrier - SC4 Web developer and database technician

As St. Clair County Community College’s Web developer and database technician, Ann Carrier has helped evolve SC4’s Web site into a modern tool used by students, college employees and the public alike to research and understand SC4 and its programs.

Ann specializes in PhP, which is a scripting language used in dynamic Web sites, and MySQL, which is a database platform. She is an adjunct faculty member at St. Clair County Community College, teaching in the Computer and Office Technology Department.

Ann built and maintained the online resource room for the NCA committees to use in their research, designed and built this Web site and coordinated the efforts of Erik Woods and Matt Makowski to build the flash introduction. She has an associate degree in business and computer information systems and a bachelor’s degree in Web development.                                                                                                                  Top
