New GLIMA chapter to boost careers for local technology professionals

Local technology professionals are invited to enjoy a new level of career support through GLIMA – Automation Alley’s Association of Interactive Professionals.  St. Clair County Community College (SC4) and the Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County (EDA) are forming a local GLIMA chapter.  A kickoff meeting is set for Tuesday, November 9, at 5:01 p.m. in SC4’s M-TEC Room 150.   Ken Rogers, Director of Automation Alley and Phil Bertolini, Director of GLIMA Affiliate Network, will speak about the benefits of GLIMA.

GLIMA is a significant technology movement that began in 1996 as the Great Lakes Interactive Marketing Association, to support, promote and grow the interactive technology industry in Michigan.  It has joined forces with Automation Alley, Southeast Michigan’s regional technology cluster working to attract the creators and consumers of diverse technologies from a variety of industries around the world.

Ken Schultz, executive director of SC4’s Center for Business and Industry Training, said the college and the EDA are creating the GLIMA chapter to give local professional an edge.  “GLIMA helps prepare our people for tomorrow’s interactive challenges,” Schultz said.  “Benefits include networking and resource sharing, prominent industry speakers and access to key industry leaders and peers to enhance career growth.”

The local chapter will be named GLIMA-Blue Water, with meetings called “Tech:5:01,” held after work at 5:01 p.m.

RSVP’s are requested by November 3 for the November 9 kickoff meeting:  e-mail glimabluewater@sc4.edu or call 810-989-5758.  Additional information can be found at www.glima.org and www.automationalley.com .
