SC4's The Spiral Studio to feature local artist

St. Clair County Community College’s The Spiral Studio in April will feature SC4 alumna Debra Dunkel, who will work on paper collages.

The Spiral Studio is 300 square feet of workspace at Studio 1219 in Port Huron for SC4 students, faculty and alumni. Each month, an SC4 art instructor or alumni artist is featured working in the studio.

SC4 students and alumni are welcome to use the studio to create their own work, converse with the guest artist, and network with fellow students and artists at Studio 1219. The public is welcome to visit and discuss art with The Spiral Studio artists.

Dunkel, 53, of St. Clair operates a studio out of her home and specializes in paper collages. She’s had an intense interest in art since childhood and had a private showing at age 10. Dunkel earned associate degrees in advertising design and general education, as well as an early childhood education certificate, from SC4.

The Spiral Studio and Studio 1219 hours are noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

For details, call the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Department at (810) 989-5709 or visit www.sc4.edu/spiral.
