College Bookstore program at SC4 benefits tree planting

The College Bookstore at St. Clair County Community College has partnered with The National Arbor Day Foundation and 280 college bookstores across the country in an effort to plant 100,000 trees.

Through the Buy a Book, Build a Forest program, the College Bookstore throughout the school year donated a portion of each used book sale or purchase to the National Arbor Day Foundation. Used textbooks offer advantages for the environment and help keep textbooks affordable for students.

The foundation will use the money collected from used textbooks bought or sold from the participating schools to plant about 100,000 trees in the Pike & San Isabel National Forest in central southeast Colorado.

The campaign ran though March at the bookstore, located in the Acheson Technology Center on the college’s Port Huron campus.

The bookstore is managed and operated by Nebraska Book Co. Inc., which leases the store rights from SC4. Nebraska-owned stores across the country are participating in this event.

For details, call College Bookstore Manager Ron Peterson at (810) 989-5725.
