SC4's The Spiral Studio to feature local artists in May, June

St. Clair County Community College’s The Spiral Studio in May and June will feature both SC4 art and German instructor Alfred Gay and local artist Richard Kinnee, who will work on print-making.

The Spiral Studio is 300 square feet of workspace at Studio 1219 in Port Huron for SC4 students, faculty and alumni. Each month, an SC4 art instructor or alumni artist is featured working in the studio.

SC4 students and alumni are welcome to use the studio to create their own work, converse with the guest artist, and network with fellow students and artists at Studio 1219. The public is welcome to visit and discuss art with The Spiral Studio artists.

Gay of Lexington has taught at SC4 for 11 years and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in print-making from the University of Washington. Kinnee of Port Huron owns Proper Framing in Port Huron and is a former SC4 art instructor. He earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from Wayne State University. The artists will bring an intaglio press to the studio and work with students on print-making during May and June.

The Spiral Studio and Studio 1219 hours are noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
