SC4 alumnus earns Kendall College scholarship

St. Clair County Community College alumnus Kevin Stabenow has been awarded a $9,000 scholarship to attend Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids.

The Portfolio Scholarship, which is $3,000 a year for three years, was awarded based on a portfolio of Stabenow’s artwork.

Stabenow, 35, of Port Huron graduated from SC4 in May with an associate of applied arts and science degree in communication design.

While at SC4, Stabenow was involved as one of the student coordinators and designers for this year’s two-volume, 50th anniversary edition of Patterns, a literary and arts publication featuring student work. In addition, he designed the 2007-08 posters for art shows, concerts and theatre productions by the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Department.

Awards Stabenow earned in 2008 include SC4’s Patrick Bourke Fine Arts Award and first place in fine arts at the 23rd annual Liberal Arts Network for Development Conference in East Lansing.
