SC4 free Thursday at Noon Concert Series begins Sept. 18

St. Clair County Community College’s free Thursday at Noon Consert Series for 2008-09 will begin with a Sept. 18 performance in the Fine Arts Theatre on the college’s Port Huron campus.

Soloist Lisa Agazzi and pianist Angelina Pashmakova will perform their program Italian Extravaganza for the free opening concert.

Noon concerts are scheduled monthly throughout the fall and winter semesters at SC4, offering a variety of talent and musical style. Lillian Maley is event host and artistic director. The concerts are free, with the exception of the Dec. 11 holiday show, which is $5 admission.

New this year is an option to enjoy lunch with the performers in the college’s Fine Arts Galleries following each concert. The lunch cost is $7, and seating is limited. Reservations are required by the Monday before each concert by calling Bistro College Center Catering at (810) 982-1767.

The remainder of the shows for this year’s series are:

  • Oct. 30 — A Romantic Afternoon, featuring Christine Kim on piano.
  • Nov. 20 — Bluegrass and Beyond, featuring the Dennis Cyporyn Trio of Dennis Cyporyn on banjo, John Denomme on bass and Gerry Castle on guitar.
  • Dec. 11 — Classical Bells’ Holiday Special, featuring the Classical Bells handbell ensemble. (Tickets: $5)
  • Jan. 29 — Dearing Consert Duo, featuring Stephen Dearing on guitar and Abha Dearing on flute and vocal.
  • Feb. 26 — Compañeros de Flamenco, featuring dancers and singer with guitar.
  • March 26 — Jazz pianist Bob Gorinac in concert.
  • April 16 — Tapestry, an SC4 student presentation of music, theatre and dance.
  • April 23 — Olga Tcherniak and Friends, featuring series founder Olga Tcherniak, performing on the piano, and guest.
