SC4’s The Spiral Studio to feature local potter

St. Clair County Community College’s The Spiral Studio in January will feature SC4 alumna Deborah J. Bassett-Maxwell, who will work on pottery.

The Spiral Studio is 300 square feet of workspace at Studio 1219 in Port Huron for SC4 students, faculty and alumni. Each month, an SC4 art instructor or alumni artist is featured working in the studio.

SC4 students and alumni are welcome to use the studio to create their own work, converse with the guest artist, and network with fellow students and artists at Studio 1219. The public is welcome to visit and discuss art with The Spiral Studio artists.

Bassett-Maxwell of Kimball Township owns Red Mudd Studio. She attended SC4 from 1978 to 1980 and earned an associate degree in advertising and design. In 1982, she earned her bachelor of fine arts in advertising and design from Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University.

The Spiral Studio and Studio 1219 hours are noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

For details, call the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Department at (810) 989-5709 or visit www.sc4.edu/spiral.
