SC4’s The Spiral Studio featuring local art teacher

St. Clair County Community College’s The Spiral Studio in July will feature local art teacher Janine Murphy-Evenson, who will work in mixed media.

This is Murphy-Evenson’s second time as a Spiral Studio guest artist. She was a guest artist in September 2008.

The Spiral Studio is 300 square feet of workspace at Studio 1219 in Port Huron for SC4 students, faculty and alumni. Each month, an SC4 art instructor or alumni artist is featured working in the studio.

SC4 students and alumni are welcome to use the studio to create their own work, converse with the guest artist, and network with fellow students and artists at Studio 1219. The public is welcome to visit and discuss art with The Spiral Studio artists.

Murphy-Evenson is an art teacher at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Port Huron. She earned an associate in general education degree from SC4, a bachelor of fine arts degree with a concentration in drawing from Wayne State University in Detroit and a teaching certificate from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.

The Spiral Studio and Studio 1219 hours are noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
