SC4 to host sexual assault awareness, prevention program

St. Clair County Community College will host RAINN Day, a sexual assault awareness, prevention and survival program, Thursday, Sept. 22.

The event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the college’s Port Huron campus.

RAINN Day is the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network's annual campaign to stop sexual assault on college campuses. SC4 is one of hundreds of college and university campuses nationwide participating in RAINN Day.

Presentations and presenters will include:

  • Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention — James Jones, SC4 criminal justice instructor
  • Sexual Assault from Victim to Survivor — Jennifer Rader
  • Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victims Support Services — Diane Baur, Turning Point Inc. director of support services/domestic violence and sexual assault counselor
  • Thoughts from a Survivor
  • Prosecuting Offenders and Victims Rights — Mona Armstrong, St. Clair County senior assistant prosecutor

The event is sponsored by SC4's Social Science Department, St. Clair County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Council, St. Clair County Prosecutor's Office and Turning Point Inc.

SC4 alumna Kristen Richardson of Grand Rapids and Krystal Pettigrew of Port Huron are coordinating the event.
