SC4 free concert to feature pianist

St. Clair County Community College’s Thursday at Noon Concert Series will welcome pianist Dan Franklin Smith at noon Thursday, Nov. 19, to the college’s Fine Arts Theatre in Port Huron.

Smith will present “Chopin’s Birthday & American Roundup!,” which celebrates an early tribute to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin, born March 1, 1810. Smith will conclude the show with a special salute to American composers such as Aaron Copland, Louis Moreau Gottschalk and André Previn.

Noon concerts are scheduled throughout the fall and winter semesters at SC4, offering a variety of talent and musical style. Lillian Maley is event host and artistic director. The concerts are free, with the exception of the Dec. 10 holiday show, which is $5 admission.

Continuing this year is an option to enjoy lunch with the performers in the college’s Fine Arts Galleries following each concert. The lunch cost is $7, and seating is limited. Reservations are required by calling (810) 989-5709 by the Monday before each concert.

For more information about the Thursday at Noon Concert Series and a complete schedule, visit www.sc4.edu/noonconcerts or call (810) 989-5709.
