SC4 Alumni Association names Tom Coleman as Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

During its annual meeting Thursday, Nov. 19, the SC4 Alumni Association named Tom Coleman of Fort Gratiot as its Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. The event was at Quay Street Brewing Co. in Port Huron.

Coleman attended what was then Port Huron Junior College from 1966 to 1968 and went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in business education from Western Michigan University.

Coleman is a real estate agent with JoAnn Wine & Associates and is a graduate of the Real Estate Institute. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors.

He is a member and treasurer of the alumni association board.

The association during the meeting also recognized Dr. Ralph Gillhooley of Port Huron with an Honorary Alumnus Award for his service to St. Clair County Community College. Gillhooley is president of the SC4 Foundation and has served on the foundation board since 1997.

Alumni association members during the meeting listened to remarks from SC4 student Shelby Rightenburg of Kimball Township, who received an SC4 Alumni Association Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year.

Also at the meeting, the association elected officers: President Denise Brooks of Fort Gratiot, Vice President Doug Alexander of Fort Gratiot, Secretary Donna Blay of Port Huron and Treasurer Tom Coleman.

Membership in the alumni association is free and open to all SC4 graduates, students past or present, and friends of the college.
