SC4 announces presenters, performers for Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

St. Clair County Community College will present its eighth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in the college’s Fine Arts Theatre on the Port Huron campus.

The event will feature a musical and dramatic celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy with a diverse variety of musicians, musical styles, dramatic performances and dance.

Scheduled presenters and performers include:
  • Pastor Carl Miller
  • Soloist Lurlene Nichols
  • Restoration Praise Team singers
  • Thomason Family
  • True Worship dance group
  • Zion Testimony Dancers
  • Friendship Baptist Praise Team
  • S.O.N.S.
  • Great Commission Church
  • Restored Community Church
  • The Rev. Dr. Bill McGill, “I Have a Dream” speech

Master of ceremonies will be the Rev. Michael Williams. Remarks will be given by Geri Kimbro, co-chair, Cultural Opportunities Subcommittee, SC4 Diversity Advisory Council; Dianna Maxwell, vice chair, St. Clair County Community College Board of Trustees; Jerilyn Brown, president, Port Huron branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; and Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp.

Admission is free. The festivities are sponsored by the Port Huron branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, St. Clair County Community College and the Times Herald.
