SC4 to offer transportation, distribution, logistics training

The program and classes will be taught on the college’s Port Huron campus.

The shipping and receiving clerk program is designed to quickly prepare people for entry-level employment as a shipping and receiving clerk in transportation, distribution and logistics. The program will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, Feb. 8 through June 21. When completed, students will be prepared to sit for the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council Certified Logistics Associate and Certified Logistics Technician exam.

A required pre-assessment class is scheduled for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20.

The Workforce Training Institute also is offering the following professional development classes for the transportation, distribution and logistics field. All classes run from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday:
  • Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) — Feb. 8 to March 1.
  • Transportation Spreadsheet and Database Concepts — March 1 to 17.
  • Introduction to Basic Calculating Skills Used in Technology — March 22 to April 5.
  • Introduction to Imports and Exports — April 7 to 21.
  • Introduction to Electrical/Electronic Concepts and Measurements — April 26 to May 10.
