St. Clair County Community College’s Workforce Training Institute will offer a new Administrative Health Care Specialist program beginning in February on the college’s Port Huron campus.

Classes will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday from Feb. 23 through Dec. 16. A required pre-assessment will be offered from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1.

The program will train students to master skills for all administrative duties in the health care field. Learn medical terminology, computers for the medical office, medical office procedures, coding and billing, and patient access skills. The program will include an externship and seminars in customer service and job attainment skills.

The U.S. Department of Labor expects employment of medical assistants to grow 35% from 2006 to 2016.
