SC4 to present Beatrice Thornton Student Art Exhibition

St. Clair County Community College in cooperation with Port Huron Museum will present the 42nd annual Beatrice Thornton Student Art Exhibition in February and March on the college’s Port Huron campus.

Art teachers from all St. Clair County schools have been invited to choose student work for the exhibition, which is free to the public.

This year, the exhibition will be split into two shows, both in SC4’s Fine Arts Galleries. Middle school and high school art will be in the first show. Elementary school art will be in the second show.

In recent years, the shows had been at the same time but split between the college and museum. Below are show details.

  • Middle school and high school art show — Feb. 4 through 26. Show hours will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. An opening-day reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4. The reception also will feature an SC4 Visual and Performing Arts Department Open House. Faculty and students from the department will be available to answer questions about SC4 art programs and facilities.

  • Elementary school art show — March 4 through 26. Show hours will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The galleries will be closed Friday, March 12. An opening-day reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 4.

St. Clair County students who are home-schooled and want to display art can call Karen Jezewski by Thursday, Jan. 28, at (810) 989-5709 to have their work considered for the exhibition.
