SC4 recognizes Diversity Advisory Council members

St. Clair County Community College on Wednesday, May 26, honored 21 members of the college’s 2009-10 Diversity Advisory Council for their volunteer service.

Members were recognized at the annual Diversity Advisory Council Appreciation Dinner on SC4’s Port Huron campus. Members received appreciation gifts and enjoyed Middle Eastern cuisine. They also listened to a presentation by SC4 Professor Patricia Frank about her trip to Turkey in 2009 through the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program.

The mission of the advisory council is to support the college in its efforts to embrace diversity and serve as a role model in the community.

Accomplishments this year included sponsoring the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration in January, co-sponsoring a Celebration of Native American History and Culture in April, hosting a Celebrating Diversity in Music event in April and offering a scholarship for the Port Huron Scholarship Assistance Annual Awards Banquet in April.
