SC4 to host SVSU teacher certification information seminar

Saginaw Valley State University will present a teacher certification information seminar from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, at St. Clair County Community College.

The seminar will be in Room 150 of the Citizens First Michigan Technical Education Center on SC4’s Port Huron campus.

The seminar is for people who already have a bachelor's degree or higher and want to obtain initial certification in elementary or secondary education from the state of Michigan.

Both the elementary and secondary education programs are available from Saginaw Valley in Port Huron through SC4's University Center. They are presented along with Saginaw Valley's special education endorsement programs for initial certification in autism spectrum disorder, cognitive impairment and emotional impairment.

Those interested in initial certification through Saginaw Valley must attend one of the university's informational seminars before scheduling an appointment with a Saginaw Valley certification advisor to have transcripts reviewed.

The meetings are free, but attendees are asked to RSVP by calling Lisa Kramp at (810) 982-5530 between 9 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday or e-mailing lmkramp@svsu.edu.
