SC4 launches smart phone app St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron has launched a free smart phone application that allows students, faculty and staff to access SC4 class cancellations, events, news and other information. Known as MOX, the Datatel Mobile Access app is powered by the DUB platform and is the only higher education app that works on multiple operating systems. It works on the iPad, iPhone, Android-based phones and several Blackberry models. Developed by SC4’s student information system partner, Datatel, the app works with information in the college’s Datatel Colleague system. The app also pulls information from the college’s website. SC4’s app has several features:
“The MOX mobile application provides our students with a more integrated means of communicating and interacting with the college and their classmates,” said David Buck, SC4’s chief information officer with technology partner SunGard Higher Education. “In the recent past, this type of mobile application was only available to larger organizations. As information technology professionals, the SC4 IT staff is excited to be able to provide this type of progressive tool to the students and employees and look forward to enhancing the application in the future.” Within the next two years, Buck said, the mobile app features for SC4 will be expanded to provide students the ability to search, register, add and drop classes as well as monitor their grades and academic progress.
