St. Clair County Community College student Gregory Lane of Greenwood Township was honored with a 2011 Faculty Memorial Award during the college's 87th annual Commencement ceremony Friday, May 6.

Lane received the Faculty Memorial Award for a student who has completed two years at SC4.

The award was founded several years ago by Professor Richard Colwell, past chairman of the SC4 English Department.

It is meant to recognize outstanding students and provide a moment at Commencement to remember extraordinary educators who have passed away.

Nominees for the 2011 Completing Student Award in addition to Lane were:
