SC4 to offer construction/safety classes

St. Clair County Community College's Workforce Training Institute is offering several construction/safety classes on the Port Huron campus.

A 60-hour Builder Pre-Licensing class will prepare students to pass the Michigan Builder License examination.

The class runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 3 to 12. For more information and to register, call (800) 861-7325.

Two new professional development classes also are being offered for people working in construction. The classes offer continuing education units.

Classes are:

  • Part 21 – Powered Industrial Trucks: What Every Trainer and Operator Must Know — Runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Learn the training and operating requirements for powered industrial trucks in general industry workplaces.
  • MIOSHA Electricity: The Invisible Killer — Runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30. This class will explain and illustrate safety practices the electrical industry uses before performing work on energized overhead lines.
