SC4 to offer professional development class for medical coders

St. Clair County Community College's Workforce Training Institute will offer a professional development class for physician-based medical coders and billers on the college's Port Huron campus.

The ICD-10 Preparation Workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, or Saturday, Nov. 5. Students can choose from either session.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has mandated the replacement of the ICD-9-CM code sets used by medical coder and billers. This workshop will cover the transition to ICD-10 and its effect on the way coding is done.

The class offers continuing education units and includes a boxed lunch.
