SC4 student selected for German exchange program

St. Clair County Community College student Grant Randall has been selected to participate in the 2012-13 Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals, a yearlong, federally funded fellowship for study and work in Germany.

Randall, 24, of Port Huron was selected as one of 75 participants from more than 500 applicants. While in Germany, he will attend a two-month intensive German language course, study at a German university or professional school for four months and complete a five-month internship with a German company in his career field.

A business transfer student, Randall enrolled at SC4 in 2006 after graduating from Yale High School. After returning from Germany, he plans to transfer to Eastern Michigan University to major in marketing. He is the son of Mary and Gary Randall of Greenwood Township.

The fellowship program was conceived and is supported by members of the U.S. Congress and the German Parliament (Bundestag). It is financially supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State under the authority of the Fulbright-Hays Act.

The program is reciprocal. While American participants such as Randall will experience life in Germany, young German professionals will live in the United States during the upcoming academic year.
