St. Clair County Community College is offering a computer skills for the office clerk program to prepare students for several certifications.

The six-month program allows students to work at their own pace to earn two certifications: IC3-GS3 Digital Literacy and CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals.

IC3-GS3 certification is the internationally recognized standard for digital literacy. It focuses on computing fundamentals; basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and Internet, networking and email basics.
CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certification provides a broad introduction to computing technology and serves as a stepping stone to advanced technical learning and IT skills.

Classes start every week. The program allows students to work at their own pace in an open lab from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on the college's Port Huron campus. Individual assistance is regularly available.
Students must pass several exams to gain certification.

Class fee includes preparation textbooks, online study materials, practice tests, supplies and certification test vouchers with free retake options.

Students must complete pre-assessment testing at least one week prior to class start date.
