SC4 to offer Emergency Medical Technician program
St. Clair County Community College will offer an Emergency Medical Technician program on the college's Port Huron campus. The program will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday from June 25 to Aug. 23. The EMT program is a combination of classroom instruction and clinical hours both on the ambulance and in the emergency room. Students will learn care for medical emergencies, airway assessment and management skills, spinal immobilization, use of automated external defibrillator and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Students also must have a physical, the MMR and Varicella Zoster vaccinations, a flu shot, a negative five-panel drug screening, a negative TB test, a current tetanus shot and the Hepatitis B vaccination series started by the beginning of class.
