Special guest German band to play SC4 Twilight Concert Series

St. Clair County Community College will host the Big Band & Windorchestra of the Angelaschule from Osnabruck, Germany, as part of SC4's free Twilight Concert Series on Friday, July 20.

The free concert will be at 7 p.m. in the Port Huron Northern High School Performing Arts Center.

This will be the second time the Big Band & Windorchestra has performed at the Twilight Concert Series. The band first appeared in 2009.

A German big band is a jazz band. A windorchestra is a symphony band. The translation for Angelaschule is Angela School. The German bands together comprise about 60 members, mostly of high school age, directed by Ekkehard Sauer.

Band members will stay with local host families while they are in the area for the concert.

The Twilight Concert Series features light and popular music performed by the SC4 Symphonic Band and SC4 Jazz Band. The bands are conducted by Carl Gippert.

The Big Band & Windorchestra of the Angelaschule performance is made possible in part through funding from the Blue Water Arts Committee.
