SC4s new Excel course provides advanced business skills

St. Clair County Community College (SC4) Professor Carol DesJardins has developed a special topics course to help users maximize the power of Excel.  CIS247A Advanced Spreadsheets with VBA will be taught by DesJardins on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:15 p.m. for six weeks beginning May 17.

The emphasis will be on problem-solving, critical thinking, and analysis to find efficient and effective solutions to real-life business problems in advanced applications for accounting, sales, payroll, inventory, and other areas.

Students will learn to use and apply Excel’s Statistical Analysis Tools, Logic, data tables, Solver, Visual Basic for Application (VBA), macros, and industrial-strength Excel Hacks (Tips).

Spreadsheet experience in the business sector is required.  The three-credit course may be audited.
