Area high schools will compete for quiz bowl prizes

St. Clair County Community College (SC4) and the SC4 Alumni Association will sponsor the 2003 Regional High School Quiz Bowl on Saturday, March 8, 2003, on the downtown Port Huron campus of the college. Top students from area high schools will compete in the event. The purpose is to focus attention on excellence in the classroom and to reward students who strive to be the best.

Quiz Bowl is a double-elimination competition testing students on a broad range of topics from history and mathematics to grammar and current events. This year's event includes teams from 19 high schools including Algonac, Almont, Brown City, Capac, Carsonville-Port Sanilac, Croswell-Lexington, Deckerville, Dryden, Imlay City, Lapeer West, Marine City, Marlette, Marysville, Peck, Port Huron High, Port Huron Northern, St. Clair, Sandusky, and Yale.

Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. on the SC4 campus, with final matches set for 2:00 p.m. The winning teams receive trophies, medals and scholarship awards from St. Clair County Community College. For more information contact SC4’s Jan Miron at 810-989-5728.
