SC4 Alumni Association honors Tyrone Burrell

Tyrone Burrell of Port Huron was honored Monday, Nov. 21, as the 2005 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year at the SC4 Alumni Association’s annual meeting. Burrell is founder and executive director of Save Our Neighborhoods and Streets in Port Huron.

About 40 alumni, faculty, staff and friends of St. Clair County Community College attended the meeting at Quay Street Brewing Co. in Port Huron.

At the meeting, the membership elected new officers and board members. They are Judge Daniel J. Kelly of Fort Gratiot, president; Dr. Robert Coulter of Port Huron Township, vice president; Valerie Berto of Kimball Township, secretary-treasurer; and Denise Brooks of Fort Gratiot and Tyrone Burrell of Port Huron, both board members.

Also introduced was Nicole Ledsworth of Kimball Township, winner of the alumni association scholarship.

Kelly also appointed Thomas Coleman of Fort Gratiot to serve as the alumni association’s ex-officio board member of the SC4 Foundation.

Membership in the alumni association is free and open to all SC4 graduates, students past or present, and friends of the college. To join, call Valerie Berto, coordinator of college advancement and alumni relations, at (810) 989-5574 or vberto@sc4.edu.
