Free program prepares young adults for jobs or college

A new program featuring free workplace training will help individuals become job-ready or college-ready in 11 weeks. Fast Break Futures will be launched in May at St. Clair County Community College in association with the Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board. The program targets 16-21 year-olds who need instruction to successfully enter the workforce or want to improve basic skills to meet college entrance guidelines.

SC4 Trainer Bill Kenner said this is an innovative way for young adults to make a quick move to a new career or college degree, even if they haven't completed high school graduation requirements. "Fast Break Futures fills the gap for young adults who aren't prepared to hold down a job, as well as for those who want to start college but need to boost their basic math and reading skills," Trainer Kenner stated.

Fast Break students will train in state-of-the-art computer labs in the new Citizens First Michigan Technical Education CenterSM on SC4's downtown Port Huron campus. They will have access to a network of people and services for job placement and college entrance. The eleven-week, full-time, accelerated training program in math, reading, writing, computer skills, and professional workplace training, will run several times during the next 14 months.

Those interested in the free Fast Break Futures program at SC4 should call now to determine eligibility requirements, 810-989-5790.
