College presents Day of Remembrance

On Sunday, November 11, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. St. Clair County Community College (SC4) will host an event to honor the memory of lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11.  The Day of Remembrance tribute will be held at the Citizens First M-TECsm on the downtown Port Huron campus of SC4.  The event is free and open to the public.

The program will begin and end with the singing of patriotic songs.  Two speakers will recount their personal experiences in New York on September 11.  Other talks on the agenda are entitled An American Muslim’s Perspective, Terrorism and the Healing Process and Generosity of the Nation.  All veterans, military personnel, firefighters and law enforcement personnel are invited to wear their uniforms.

The event is presented by the SC4 September 11 Committee, a group of staff and students that formed to address the aftermath of the September 11 events.  Since then, the College has conducted a blood drive, held seminars regarding community building and made counselors available to students and staff. Procedures for students called to active duty have been established, and proceeds from various campus-wide fundraisers have gone toward healing efforts.

For more information regarding the SC4 Day of Remembrance, contact the SC4 President’s office at 810-989-5545 or visit www.sc4.cc.
