Terrorism expert to speak at SC4

The International Cultural Education Committee of St. Clair County Community College (SC4) will host its Fifth Annual Global Awareness Day on Thursday, October 18, 2001 in the Fine Arts Theatre on SC4’s downtown Port Huron Campus.   The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and will address International Health Hot Spots.

Mr. Mark Davidson, Special Agent for the FBI and expert on domestic and international terrorism, will present the evening lecture at 7:00 p.m.  His program will focus on potential health problems that could result from a terrorist attack and the use of biological, chemical or nuclear weapons.

Daytime guest speakers will discuss topics such as The Role of the Red Cross and Food-borne Disease Threats.  SC4 Professor Paul Schmitt encourages all community members to attend this year’s Global Awareness Day at the College.  “This event has taken on an importance we never dreamed of at its inception,” Schmitt said.  “It is an excellent way for our citizens to raise their awareness of global issues, especially during this important time.”

Tuition for the daytime symposium is $5 per session, with free admission for students.  Tuition for the evening lecture is $10, or $5 for students.  Admission is free to Alumni Association members.  Seniors will receive a 50% discount.  To register call 810-989-5740, or call Professor Schmitt at 800-553-2427, extension 5571, for more information and a complete schedule of events.
