SC4 appoints Kenneth Lord as vice president of human resources and labor relations

Kenneth M. Lord has been appointed vice president of human resources and labor relations at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron. As vice president, Lord will be responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies and programs, which include labor relations, collective bargaining, employee benefits and employment laws, and payroll.

He will assume the post in October.

Lord has more than 25 years of law experience in Michigan and served in the U.S. Army for three years prior to his law career.

Since 1991, Lord has been senior partner with Lord, Damman & VanDrew in Port Huron. His experience includes litigation, mediations, contract negotiations and business management.

Prior to Lord, Damman & VanDrew, Lord spent nine years in the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office as senior trial attorney for the felony trial docket.

Previously, Lord worked as assistant prosecutor in the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Ken’s vast experience with the law and labor issues and his knowledge of our community make him as asset to St. Clair County Community College,” said college President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca. “He is known for his strong ethics and his ability to get the job done.”

Lord is a member of the Michigan Bar Association and St. Clair County Bar Association, chairman of the Criminal Indigent Defense Counsel, and board member of Huron House and Professional Counseling Center Community Services.

Lord, 58, earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta. He holds a bachelor of science degree in sociology with minors in psychology and English from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. He lives in Burtchville Township.
