Daniel Kelly — 2008 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year

During its annual meeting Monday, Nov. 10, the SC4 Alumni Association named St. Clair County Circuit Judge Daniel Kelly of Fort Gratiot as its Distinguished Alumnus of the Year.

Kelly earned his associate of arts degree in 1967 from what was then Port Huron Junior College and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in political science and a law degree from Wayne State University.

Kelly started his career practicing law in Port Huron. He was first elected as 72nd District Court judge in 1982 and re-elected in 1986. He was appointed chief judge of the district court in 1988. In 1994, Gov. John Engler appointed Kelly as 31st Circuit Court judge, a position he holds to this day as chief circuit court judge.

He is a member and past president of the alumni association board and a member and vice president of the SC4 Foundation Board.

The SC4 Alumni Association is accepting nominations for its Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award. Click here to complete an online nomination form.
