Andrea Quain

Andrea Quain -- Success comes quickly to this young principal.

A school principal at age 28, Andrea Quain has had a lifelong desire to work with children. Her educational choices paved the way to the career she loves and those choices began at St. Clair County Community College (SC4).

After graduating from Marysville High School in 1992, Andrea chose SC4 as her next step. "I am very close with my family and SC4 allowed me to remain close to home while offering a variety of courses which opened the door to many career options," Andrea said. "In addition, SC4 was more affordable than a four-year university."

Andrea transferred to Western Michigan University where she received her Teaching Certificate and Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
After graduating in 1996, Andrea returned to Marysville and began teaching second grade at Washington Elementary School.

During her years teaching, Andrea continued her education, and in 1999 she received her Master's's degree in Educational Leadership from Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU). Last year she earned her Education Specialist Degree in Administration from SVSU, and accepted a position with Roseville Community Schools. She now serves as principal of Patton Elementary School, a small school of about 250 students, and she is thrilled with her choice.

"I have found my career change to be very rewarding. It has been an exciting year, and I look forward to many more," Andrea stated.

Her rapid rise to success as a young principal is just the beginning for Andrea. She plans to continue in school administration and eventually may be interested in a central office position. And, while she enjoys spending time with her parents, brothers and niece, Andrea looks forward to having a family of her own some day.
