FIRE SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREE
HONORS DEGREE OPTION AVAILABLE

The Fire Science Technology Program is designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the fire protection field as a designated safety professional employed in industry, government, or the public sector. The program is intended as a basic study in the fire sciences for fire fighters, fire protection specialists and those in related fields such as architecture, insurance, corporate security, and environmental safety. The program covers fire protection, prevention and suppression, hazardous materials, fire source investigation, and organizational management.

* Articulated credit is available for students who have earned certification through the Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute at SC4 or any other recognized training facility where a Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council certificate has been issued. Students must provide proof of certification(s) to the Registrar. Credit awarded is only applicable to the Fire Science Technology Associate degree and/or certificate programs at SC4 and will be added once the student has officially enrolled (i.e. past the drop/add period).
** or higher MTH class. Students have the option of taking MTH 112 as a replacement of MTH 110 and MTH 111. Students choosing this option are still required to complete a minimum of 62 credits.

Optional courses may replace all program courses except FST 203 Hazardous Materials I and FST 205 Hazardous Materials II. FST 203 and 205 are equired to receive the Associate Degree.

Bachelor of Science Degree – Fire and Safety Engineering Technology. For those students wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree at University of Cincinnati, an English literature course and a total of nine credit hours in humanities or social science are required at the associate degree level.
