It is the philosophy of SC4 that students at some time in their college career may need a Fresh Start. The procedure allows students who were enrolled in one program and are now enrolled in a different program the opportunity to have their cumulative grade point average reflect their present academic success. Before using Fresh Start, a curriculum change needs to have occurred. Criteria for Fresh Start Eligibility - Must be enrolled at SC4.
- Must have at least a two year "stop-out" prior to program change.
- Must have completed 12 credits in new program, as indicated in the College Catalog or transfer program requirement.
- Classes considered eligible for Fresh Start cannot be applicable to the student’s current program of study.
- Course(s) to be considered must have grades of C- or below.
- Students who earned a degree from SC4 are not eligible.
Process - Make an appointment with a advisor to determine whether the Fresh Start procedure is applicable.
- If the procedure is deemed applicable, a Fresh Start form will be completed, signed by the student and the advisor, and forwarded to the Registrar.
- The Registrar will review the proposed request, either approve or disapprove according to the procedure, and mail a copy to the student’s home address.
- Course grades that have been changed may not be evaluated in a similar manner by other institutions.
