Frontieros careers span two lifelong interests

When she’s not designing software, Robin Frontiero is in front of a classroom of students.

Regardless of her role at the moment, Frontiero applies the same passion derived from finding two careers that challenge and excite her on a daily basis.

Frontiero is a 1987 SC4 graduate. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Park College in Kansas City, Mo., in computer-based information systems and also management and business administration.

Computers offer unique rewards in the business world, she said.

“It’s like people who like to solve puzzles; you use the computers to solve business problems,” said Frontiero of Port Huron.

She has owned Robin Frontiero LLC, a software consulting firm, since 1995 and has helped more than 400 clients in the Blue Water Area and beyond to streamline their office productivity.

Improving efficiency is a personal joy for Frontiero.

“I have people working 40 hours a week by hand,” she said. “Now, it takes them one-and-a-half hours to do the work.”

Frontiero also is a teacher of business, management and administration at St. Clair County Technical Education Center. Teaching is something she’s wanted to do since the fifth grade, she said.

“I wanted to make a difference in someone else’s life,” she said. “I like to see the light bulb go on.”

Starting her education at SC4 made sense for her because she wasn’t settled on a certain career path at the time. And she isn’t done with her education.

Alumna Robin Frontiero said SC4 was a good choice to get her education started because it helped her determine her career path.

She’s close to finishing her master’s degree in career and technical education from Ferris State University.
